Pebble Beach Preview: RM Auctions
I know very little about cars older than 1960. It's not that I don't care, it's just that most of them look kind of the same to me. However, there are certain vehicles that, though I may not be able to immediately identify them, I know that there is something really special that deserves another look. Among the other events at Pebble Beach this year, we will be attending the RM Classic Car Auctions, where some of the most valuable cars in the world will be auctioned off at extraordinarily high prices for the entertainment of everyone else, myself included. Check out below for some of RM's press video about two of the more special cars going on the block, the 1931 Bentley 8 Litre Tourer and the 1957 Chrysler Diablo Concept by Ghia. Some of the most interesting cars ever built have been concept cars from the 1950's, and rumor has it there will be a plethora of them at Pebble Beach for us all to enjoy.
Some of the other featured cars at this year's Monterey RM Auction include (prices are estimates from RM's web site):
1929 Duesenberg Model J Convertible - $1.8 million
1962 Chapparal 1 Race Car - $750,000 - $950,000
1972 Lamborghini Miura SV - $825,000 - $975,000
1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder - $1.4 - $1.6 million
