Matt…did you know more than him about SVT and Ford…? That was funny to watch you lead the conversation while he listened most of the time! When you pulled out the turbo…I actually started laughing!
I almost bought a 2000 SVT Cobra someone was dumping for cheap in 2005. I decided against it, but kick myself for it often…the douche-bag did not know what he had and was selling it for next to nothing with under 100,000km on it.
Speaking of the SVT Contour, my first real project car was my 1999 Cougar, which I blew the 2.5 V6 engine and swapped in the SVT Contour engine. With some headers, high-flow duels and good/lots of tuning, I had the baby over 200whp.
That engine was my first true attempt to make something race like. The original 2.5 was built like glass, but I bagged the crap out the SVT version. It was still rock solid when I sold it. Before that in high school I drove around in V8’s with turbo-400 trannies…and with just a cam everything was a rocket, in a straight line…
it wasn't when i bought it, but after rebuilding the engine with a 347 Stroker kit, putting in a Saleen suspension, and removing the rear seat and insulation, it's performance was on par with the C5 Corvette.
thanks for the tour of the SVT facility. that was pretty cool. the more i work at a Ford store, the more i like the brand and start to respect how good some of their cars were and are. The Terminator is a perfect example. I have a customer with a highly modded 03 and it is by far the fastest car i've had the pleasure of driving. SVT for the win!
Well what can you say there are some places that you just have to see before you die and that was one of them. Oh and what is with dude and the music question? You need to keep up with the engine goodness.
Thanks for another great Ford related episode!
Just out of curiosity, did you happen to hear anything while you were there about a possible new SVT Focus in the works? Or maybe a SVT Fiesta in a few years? That would be TONS of fun haha Thanks Matt
Since Ford is going in the new "ecoboost" direction, it's only safe to assume that there will be some smaller SVT cars coming out in the future. As for specifics, they wouldn't show me what was behind the blue tarps :)
please tell me you sneaked a peek behind the blue tarps. if mazda can have success with the Speed3 here in the states, i don't know why the Focus RS won't fly. vw brought back the GTI with soul, Ford needs to follow the hot hatch tradition, especially with the new mileage conscious public.
Full Carbon Fiber Ford GT? Ford SVT Headquarters Tour - Garage419
Jamal Hameedi takes Garage419 on a tour of the SVT headquarters in Dearborn Michigan. We take a look at Cobra R's over the years, the GT500KR, a hanging Ford GT as well as an all carbon fiber Ford GT and of course all the engines casually laying around the facility. -Garage419
Cool. Nice of them to give you a tour. Smart of them, too. How come they didnt have a GT90 on display anywhere?
Did you visit with any other OEMs or interesting companies while you were out in the D?
Did GM give you any love?
we will just have to wait and see :)
What happend to the GT500KR?
we already did two whole episodes on the KR, it's awesome though... Check in the past episodes for our review.
Love the big Garrett turbo built into the manifold

PS: I am really impressed by your car knowledge.
I was a hardcore Ford junkie in High School. SVT Contours rule.
Blame it on high school eh?

hey great show again-but are you guys paying for the copyrighted music you've been using?
Well what can you say there are some places that you just have to see before you die and that was one of them. Oh and what is with dude and the music question? You need to keep up with the engine goodness.
Wow great tour!!! The SVT guy would have needed a microphone he was so quiet when he spoke!!!
Keep up your great work!!!

I didn't see a thing... *wink, wink*
Great show, need to boom mic it a little hard to hear.
Lol, Thanks for the shout out to the SVT Contour cult. You made a lot of us happy by saving the best for last.
