You have to love how you can drive the Audi away without the key. I drove my 07 A6 for 2 miles without it before I turned around cause the beeping was so annoying. Common sense would tell Audi to have the car shut off if the key isn't there. I still Audis/VWs anyway.

Nice ride, I love the A5 and S5!!! I agree the manuals are too long for simple things like the key or the windshield wiper.
And I would say that this dumb keyless-go thing went completely wrong in your case but Audi isn't the only one. There are rumours that even without keyless-go the BMW 3series has probblems that you can start the engine in the first 30 seconds after removing the key!!

I liked this episode even I would love to see more of the driving footage of the beginning so maybe one minute more and that you say a bit more about the A5. how it drives and stuff like you did it with the Mustang on the road.

Thats pretty awesome episode. I never knew that about the Audi companies all being close to each other. They have the same setup as most F1 racing companies that they are all close and able to develop tech so quickly.

That key fob thing was ridiculous, how the f do they get away from that...might as well just sneak up to an Audi guy and just jump in his car while he is walkin towards it

PS- I do not condone this to be done, lol

    Sweet episode.
Well-produced intro, and a great discussion with Christian which gives us an interesting look into Audi's ops, and their perspective on racing and fuel technology. Christian represented his company well.

    Thanks for another great episode.

Audi key fob thing s crazy; I dont get it. A major oversight, or is there some logic behind it?

  • turbodgumby wrote on July 24, 3:56 pm

were you able to just keep going once you were out of range of the key fob???

  • MattF G419 wrote on July 24, 11:56 pm

yup, the engine doesn't cut off until you hit the start/stop button. there is a warning light to tell you that the key isn't in the car though.

Hey, I actually received an email update from 32Hours7Seconds!

Like, 8 Months after I signed up for it.

I guess its getting closer to completion? Matt?

Audi is way ahead of the curve. Christian seemed like a very knowledgable guy.

I guess you need a trunk monkey if you own an Audi.

Not too much to say, other than good show!

  • slowmowfoe wrote on July 25, 1:22 am

nice production on this ep. much more polished. before i worked for a Ford store, i worked for VW and definitely have love for vw/audi products. it's nice to see a company that brings so much great innovation to the public in the most base model of cars through their racing. ferrari does the same thing with the e-diff and all that stuff but they are more unobtanium than the audi. now if they would just have said yes to the v12 tdi R8 street car...

  • slowmowfoe wrote on July 25, 9:06 am

i forgot to mention, if you like the A5/S5, check out the MTM S5 complete with supercharger

  • MattF G419 wrote on July 25, 10:00 am

I've seen it. If the supercharger wasn't so damn expensive I'd just do that instead of waiting a year for my RS5, but the RS will actually turn out cheaper...

Who is the band and what song is played in the beginning of this episode? Great show...again. I love getting it on Tivo BTW. Thanks Matt. (I personally can't drive a car without Earth's magnetic deflection zone set correctly.)

  • MattF G419 wrote on July 25, 10:00 am

it's joy division, and I never leave my house without checking the magnetic deflection zone either

  • snakekiller wrote on July 25, 4:07 am

  • MattF G419 wrote on July 25, 10:01 am

haven't heard anything, but I'd love to see some if you've got it.

go to stangnet.com and type in diesel-turbocharged-s197-ford-mustang

  • OrangeBoss9 wrote on July 25, 9:01 pm

I know of an '05 Caddy XLR that once went from Rockland County to Brooklyn without the fob. It was my brother. I swear.

  • MattF G419 wrote on July 25, 10:09 pm

my original driving without the key experiment was with a caddy... there wasn't even a warning light to tell me the key wasn't in the car. at least audi lets you know

  • snakekiller wrote on July 25, 9:06 pm

o by the way matt its a 4-banger tubocharged "svo" anyone

  • CoppellStereo wrote on July 26, 2:48 am

it would have been more impressive if you were able to turn the car on from that far away. my car lets you drive without the key too, it only beeps once at the beginning. i think the cars should shut off without the keys inside

  • tigger29900 wrote on July 26, 11:25 pm

i know this has nothing to do with teh video (A5 atleast looks amazing) but waht does everything think about an austin-healey 3000 MKIII BJ8 for my first car

  • ShootingSam wrote on July 28, 11:12 am

Very nice.In Germany they still driving a mk2 in historic rallies.
