So what's the big deal about being first?
Great show!
The Viper is just plan SICK! Do they lose points for not being far enough sideways? (Not that that was an issue with the viper.)
The drifting is judged kinda like figure skating.... They get points for speed and style, how sideways they get and smoke.
Awsome show Matt. It must have been amazing to ride with the Samuel Hubinette AKA the crazy suede. I"ve some of us may do doughnuts in empty snowy parking lots. But at 90mph plus has to be a hole different thing. I've seen it on G4 tv, I wish I was there to see it.
Great show, im pissed I missed E town
But, one thing:
Drift you later? Common Sam, LAME!!!
lol keep up the good work
Wow that was a great show!!! Drifting is so much bigger in the US than it's in Germany!!!
Did you had the opportunity to drive one of these Driftcars by yourself??
would have loved to, but no. I probably would have put it right into a wall.... when i was in the car with sam, watching what he was doing, it's actually much harder than it looks from the outside.
meh... Mopar :(
I wonder how other racers (in other categories of racing) who also race on the same tracks that Formula D uses....feel about the performance conditions of the track with all that additional rubber laid down on it. Does it help for traction? Do they prefer it?
And for the drifters, how often ae they replacing their tires? DO they replace them after each individual run? Crazy stuff.
Hey Matt, I like the way you kind of take us into a new world (well for me at least) by going to these events and asking insightful questions and tuff to the drivers. Do you think you could go to a Rally event (like, the offroad stuff with a driver and a navigator...the series which the subarus run in, which audi yoused to dominate ith ther quattro...you know what im talking about). Please do an episode on that. Thanks, and keep up the GREAT work.
Yes, we are planning on doing a bit of rallying, we're working on scheduling now.
The tires last 4 runs on the Englishtown course. Tire sponsorship is a key part of drifting, because they can use up to 60 tires per car on a weekend!
And they clean the track thoroughly after every Formula D event.
the crazy suede, Samuel Hubinette thank God he went back to the viper, that charger wasnt doing it for him, head to head how come i never hear of this???? and what channel has Formula D showing these days????? use to be on G4TV on sunday nights, then ESPN on weekdays at about 1am and now i cant even find it, if anyone knows PLZ let me in on it, i'm a big fan of drifting, i follow the D1 events online so i was very happy when it was made main stream in the US with Formula D. great show.
Nice show…I want 335’s…I guess I will have to settle on 235's...
The smile on your face was priceless and said more than just videos of the car could have!
Nice editing with the little windows, it looks like how I like to edit…back in university.
Formula Drift has the same relationship to other motor sports as any other "judged" sport has to a real sport. It's just a judged exhibition and about as exciting as figure skating and synchronized swimming.
